New Compact Modular Steam Sterilising Autoclave with Hinged Access Panels

The new multi-purpose modular autoclave range that is designed to minimize footprint while maximizing maintenance access

Under the Sterimega Plus trademark, Telstar has developed a new compact steam sterilising autoclave model with GMP design including a hinged front-facing access panels which open completely to provide full access to technical area of the equipment. This configuration has been specifically designed for use in the pharmaceutical industry and laboratories with limited space. The Sterimega range is primarily for steam sterilisation of solid products and porous and gravitational liquid loads in the pharmaceutical industry and can be configured with a pass through chamber for sterilisation and/or biodecontamination processes. The equipment is available in a range of standard sizes with chamber dimensions to accommodate a wide range of applications.

The double access hinged panels at the front-side of the equipment are unique feature in that they provide unrestricted access for maintenance without the need to provide additional space at the side of the equipment. This enables installation in a very compact space compared to the more traditional approach. In fact, 95% of the steam autoclaves on the market are designed access to the technical area from the side, which means providing space additional to the footprint of the equipment.

In addition the technical area has been re-designed so that maintenance can be carried out using a reduced number of tools. The modular design approach utilized enables the technical area to be readily located on either side of the equipment according to project requirements.

The new range autoclaves offer an option to add two heat exchangers to cool the water supplied to the liquid ring vacuum pump and the associated effluents sent to drainage, via a closed-circuit cooling system. This provides a saving of more than 60% on water consumption.

In addition to the hinged front-facing access panels, the chamber doors are also able to be swung on hinges when in the open position, irrespective of whether its motion is side-to-side or vertical. This action further facilitates maintenance access and enables a more thorough cleaning process.

Finally, the equipment is integrated with state-of-the-art control systems. The standard system, MicroSter, hasa large-size 10.4” touch screen and a completely redesigned user interface, while the advanced SCADA control system, PharmaSter, provides a larger size touch screen in an 18.5” panoramic format that includes enhanced features to support usage, diagnostics and maintenance.

The new compact steam sterilising autoclave Sterimega Plus will be presented by Telstar at Achema 2015 (Frankfurt, 15-19 June).
