Compaction Excipients

Compaction Excipients

Oral administration is the most common way of dispensing medications. Among all the oral dosage forms, tablets of various kinds are the most common type of solid dosage form in use today. Compaction excipients are typically used for solid dosage forms, such as tablets, capsules, pills. If a powder cannot be compressed for solid dosage forms, it can be forced to compress by adding binders. On occasion, fillers are added, either before or after compaction, to assist in compression.
