Lubiprostone belongs to the group of prostaglandin derivatives and prostones. The active ingredient promotes regular defacation and improves constipation-associated symptoms. It is used for the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome and opioid-induced constipation.
