Douglas Pharmaceuticals was founded in 1967 by Auckland chemist Sir Graeme Douglas, who dispensed prescription medicines. In 198,0, he started manufacturing his own cough syrup and by the 1990s was successfully researching and developing products for the domestic and international markets. Today, Douglas is New Zealand’s largest family-owned healthcare company, exporting to over 50 countries.
