After disclosing last week Amgen will lay off approximately 150 employees on the east coast, the company announced an additional round of layoffs.
A total of 172 positions will be eliminated according to a WARN filing in Californa. The majority of the jobs targeted are field-based jobs throughout the U.S., however, some cuts will hit its headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California.
The layoffs will take effect Dec. 31, according to the filing. Amgen had a reported 5,125 employees in Thousand Oaks as of 2017.
Last week, Amgen said it will cut 149 jobs in Massachusetts by the end of the year as it exits neuroscience R&D.
