Zymtronix and Ginkgo Bioworks Announce Partnership to Produce Enzymes for the Industrialization of Cell-Free Biomanufacturing

Zymtronix, a company that develops cell-free process technologies, has partnered with Ginkgo Bioworks, a platform for cell programming and biosecurity, to optimize enzymes used in Zymtronix's proprietary cell-free platform for producing essential ingredients in various sectors, such as food, agriculture, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.

Enzymatic biocatalysis is a powerful manufacturing technology that can enable the production of a wide range of chemicals and molecules. Zymtronix's cell-free platform is designed to address challenges associated with traditional biocatalysis and aims to enable the production of products with precision and productivity. With Ginkgo's expertise in building and producing bioengineered enzymes, Zymtronix expects to extend its solutions to various markets, including pharma, nutrition, and agriculture.

Ginkgo Enzyme Services provides end-to-end support for discovering, optimizing, and producing enzymes for diverse applications. Through this partnership, Ginkgo will leverage its enzyme services to engineer enzymes for Zymtronix's applications, improve enzyme expression and production host performance, and use metagenomic enzyme discovery.

Ena Cratsenburg, Chief Business Officer at Ginkgo Bioworks, expressed excitement about welcoming Zymtronix to the platform and supporting its sustainable ingredient applications. The partnership will accelerate Zymtronix's work in transforming the way enzymes are used, and Ginkgo's end-to-end capabilities will help expand its efforts.

Zymtronix's CEO-CTO and founder, Stéphane Corgié, said that the partnership would speed up the commercialization of cell-free biomanufacturing and sustainable ingredients, starting with alternatives to animal sources. He expressed hope that the collaboration would facilitate the production of multiple end-market products in the future.
