Hurricane Helene: Baxter International's Manufacturing Recovery in Marion, NC

On Tuesday, October 8th, the FDA established a webpage to provide regular updates on the impact Hurricane Helene had to Baxter International’s North Cove manufacturing facility in Marion, N.C.

This facility is one of the largest manufacturers of intravenous and peritoneal dialysis solutions in the United States. FDA is actively working with Baxter and colleagues in the Department of Health and Human Services and across government to reduce the impact that intermittent or reduced availability of certain products will have on patients.

While FDA has not yet declared any new shortages related to products produced at this facility, a number of products were already in shortage and may be further impacted until North Cove resumes operations. Additional products may be added to the FDA shortage list if the agency determines that the total supply, including importation of product from other Baxter facilities outside the U.S., dips below national demand.
