QUANTRO Therapeutics has extended its cancer drug discovery collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim for two additional years, following the completion of a high-throughput screening campaign that identified potential candidates for development.
The joint research program, first launched in 2022, focuses on developing small-molecule therapies that target cancer-associated transcription factors. These proteins regulate gene expression and play a role in cancer progression but have historically been considered difficult to target in drug development.
QUANTRO’s proprietary time-resolved transcriptomics platform was used in one of its largest screening campaigns to date, evaluating more than 350,000 compounds. The approach enabled the identification of functionally validated hits against transcription factors previously considered inaccessible to treatment.
Under the collaboration agreement, QUANTRO has received payments and could earn up to €500 million in success-based R&D, regulatory, and commercial milestones. The company retains ownership of its technology platform and other internal projects outside the partnership.
