Tanabe Pharma Announces Wide-Ranging Organizational and Executive Restructuring

Tanabe Pharma Corporation has announced a broad reorganization of its corporate structure and executive team, effective April 1, 2026, as part of an effort to streamline functions and clarify reporting lines. The company will rename its Corporate Strategy Division as the Corporate Operations Division and abolish several existing divisions, including Legal, Compliance and Intellectual Property, Business Development, Finance, and Human Resources & General Affairs, with their departments now reporting directly to the relevant C‑suite officers.

On the R&D and commercial side, the Global Development & Medical Affairs Division will become US Development, while the Development & Medical Affairs Division will be renamed the Development Division, and a new executive officer role, head of Regulatory Affairs, will report into Development. Tanabe will also split the Japan Pharmaceutical Business Division into separate Marketing and Sales divisions.

Personnel changes include the appointment of Kiyonobu Kawano as executive officer and head of Marketing Division and Hajime Minami as executive officer and head of Sales Division. Several executives will see changes to their responsibilities, including Amit Singh as chief financial officer, Masahiko Ohtsuki as chief R&D officer, and Tomoaki Tokuno as executive officer in charge of Reform Project. The updated board and executive roster retains Akihisa Harada as representative director and chief executive officer and Akihiro Tsujimura as president and chief operating officer.
