Novo Nordisk has entered a strategic partnership with OpenAI to integrate advanced artificial intelligence tools across its research, development, and operational activities. The collaboration is designed to apply large-scale AI models to analyze complex biomedical and operational datasets, with the goal of identifying potential drug candidates and shortening timelines from early research to patients.
According to Novo Nordisk, the partnership framework includes defined data protection measures, governance structures, and human oversight intended to support ethical and compliant use of AI. The companies plan to deploy AI systems to support activities such as pattern recognition in research data, hypothesis testing, and decision support in development programs.
As part of the agreement, OpenAI will support training and upskilling of Novo Nordisk’s global workforce to increase AI literacy and facilitate adoption of new digital tools. Initial pilot programs are planned across research and development, manufacturing, supply chain and distribution, and selected commercial and corporate functions.
