Mabwell Signs Licensing Deal for Denosumab Biosimilars in Malaysia

Mabwell has entered into a licensing and commercialization agreement with a strategic partner in Malaysia for its denosumab biosimilar products MAILISHU, a biosimilar of Prolia, and MAIWEIJIAN, a biosimilar of Xgeva. Under the agreement, the Malaysian partner will be responsible for product registration and commercialization in Malaysia, while Mabwell will oversee development, manufacturing, and commercial supply.

According to Mabwell, Malaysia has a population of about 35.97 million and a 2025 pharmaceutical market estimated at approximately 3.4 billion U.S. dollars, with a compound annual growth rate of around 6 percent. The country is a full member of the Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S) and is described as having a mature and well-regulated pharmaceutical framework within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.

Mabwell stated that the Malaysian agreement extends its denosumab biosimilar commercialization strategy in ASEAN markets, where it has previously signed similar licensing and supply arrangements in other countries. Financial terms of the Malaysian collaboration were not disclosed.
