Zentalis Adds Commercial Veterans to Support Azenosertib Launch Plans in Ovarian Cancer

Zentalis Pharmaceuticals has bolstered its commercial leadership as it advances late-stage development of its investigational WEE1 inhibitor azenosertib for Cyclin E1‑positive platinum‑resistant ovarian cancer (PROC). The company appointed Shannon Campbell to its board of directors and named Sarah Kelly senior vice president of commercial strategy, moves intended to strengthen commercialization readiness ahead of potential registration and launch.

Zentalis is running registration‑intended Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials of azenosertib as a biomarker‑driven treatment in Cyclin E1‑positive PROC. “Shannon Campbell brings deep experience helping oncology companies successfully navigate the transition from clinical to commercial‑stage,” said Julie Eastland, chief executive officer of Zentalis. Eastland said Campbell’s commercial scale‑up expertise and Kelly’s background in launch readiness for both companion diagnostics and therapeutics will provide the strategic, operational and commercial foundation needed to support launch preparation and long‑term growth.

Campbell is a biopharmaceutical executive with more than 30 years of experience in global commercial strategy and oncology franchise building. She most recently served as executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Merus, where she led the company’s evolution toward a commercial‑stage organization, including launch preparedness for its portfolio of multispecific antibodies. Earlier in her career, she held senior oncology leadership roles at Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, supporting launches and growth of therapies across solid tumors and rare diseases. She currently serves on the board of Black Diamond Therapeutics and as an advisory board member for Verix.

“I am excited to join Zentalis’ Board at an important time for the Company as it prepares to bring a potential first‑in‑class therapy to market for patients with platinum‑resistant ovarian cancer, a population with significant unmet need,” Campbell said. She added that she looks forward to working with the board and leadership team to help build the strategic and commercial infrastructure required to bring azenosertib to the ovarian cancer community.

Kelly joins Zentalis to lead launch readiness as senior vice president of commercial strategy. Over a 30‑year career, she has held senior commercial and business development roles at Amgen, Turning Point, Spectrum and Agilent. Her experience includes building and leading commercial organizations for therapeutic and companion diagnostic launches, with a focus on commercial strategy, market access, companion diagnostics, field leadership and business development. Zentalis said her expertise will help prepare the company to potentially bring azenosertib to patients.

Zentalis is advancing azenosertib in a late‑stage registrational program for Cyclin E1‑positive PROC. The DENALI Phase 2 trial, designed to support a potential accelerated approval pathway pending data and U.S. FDA feedback, is expected to deliver topline results by the end of 2026. The company also recently dosed the first patient in ASPENOVA, a Phase 3 confirmatory trial in Cyclin E1‑positive PROC intended to support conversion from accelerated to full approval as well as potential registrations outside the United States.
