Sanofi recently announced a significant overhaul of its Executive Committee bringing together what it described as a focused leadership team to help guide the company's next strategic chapter. The new structure takes effect September 1, 2026.
The revamped eight-member Executive Committee will be led by CEO Belén Garijo and includes François Roger (Finance), Paulo Fontoura (Research & Development), Manuela Buxo (Specialty Care), Thomas Triomphe (Vaccines), Thomas Grenier (General Medicines), Brendan O'Callaghan (Manufacturing & Supply), Jamie Haney (General Counsel), and Véronique Jaillet (Chief People Officer, ad interim).
Several notable structural changes accompany the personnel moves. The Finance function will take on an expanded mandate, absorbing responsibility for business operations and Global Partnering and Business Development — a consolidation intended to drive a more integrated approach to M&A and deal-making. Thomas Triomphe will add oversight of China to his existing role leading the Vaccines business. Madeleine Roach, currently Head of Business Operations, transitions to President and Country Lead for Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
Two senior departures mark the transition. Olivier Charmeil, who has served as Executive Vice President of General Medicines, moves to a newly created Strategic Projects Advisor role reporting to the CEO. Roy Papatheodorou, Executive Vice President and General Counsel for over four years, is leaving the company to pursue external opportunities.
Emmanuel Frenehard (Digital) and Audrey Duval (Corporate Affairs and President of Sanofi France) will continue to report directly to Garijo outside the formal Executive Committee structure.
"This Executive Committee brings together experienced professionals who will work together to help shape our future direction, make disciplined choices, execute them with focus, and ensure we continue to deliver for our patients, our people and all our stakeholders," Garijo said in the announcement.
