FUJIFILM Biotechnologies has appointed Maja Pedersen as President, in addition to her role as Chief Operating Officer, as part of a planned leadership transition aimed at the company’s next phase of execution and sustainable growth. The change is effective immediately.
Under the succession plan, Lars Petersen is transitioning from President and Chief Executive Officer to Strategic Advisor through September 30, 2026. The company said the move is designed to support operational excellence as it advances its business strategy. Toshihisa Iida will continue as Chairman, providing strategic oversight and alignment with Fujifilm’s global direction.
Pedersen was appointed COO in 2025 and has been responsible for site operations, supply chain, quality, process development and global manufacturing science and technology. The company said her operational experience makes her well positioned to lead the next stage of growth. In a statement shared on LinkedIn, Iida said Pedersen has already played a pivotal role in building the company’s operational strength and has the deep expertise, quality leadership and customer focus needed to continue the strategy already established.
Petersen has led the company since 2023 and helped drive a cultural transformation centered on a “people first” approach across the organization’s global sites. The company said his transition reflects a planned leadership evolution rather than an abrupt change.
FUJIFILM Biotechnologies said the succession comes as it enters a new phase of execution and sustainable growth. The company did not announce additional changes to its executive team in the release, but said its leadership structure is intended to reinforce continuity.
