Bristol Myers Squibb will invest about $2.3B to build a new multi-modal pharmaceutical manufacturing campus at Generation Park in Houston, expanding its U.S. production network and creating nearly 500 skilled jobs.
The approximately 600,000-square-foot campus will manufacture several types of medicines, including small molecules, biologics and antibody-drug conjugates. BMS said the facility will support drug-product and finished-goods manufacturing from late-stage development through commercial launch across multiple disease areas.
The project is part of the company’s $40 billion, five-year U.S. investment commitment spanning research and development, technology and domestic manufacturing. The company said the Houston site will be designed for long-term expansion, with modular production capacity that can be added or reconfigured as its pipeline and commercial needs change.
BMS expects the campus to incorporate advanced digital capabilities, automation and flexible manufacturing systems intended to provide speed, quality and reliability while reinforcing supply-chain resilience. The company said the site’s design will allow it to adapt to new technologies and future demand.
Board Chair and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Boerner said the investment reflects BMS’ confidence in U.S. biopharmaceutical innovation and in Houston’s workforce, infrastructure and partnerships. Karin Shanahan, BMS executive vice president and chief supply chain and operations officer, said the facility will support a digitally advanced supply operation and consistent delivery across multiple treatment modalities.
BMS selected Texas and Generation Park following a competitive review of Central and Eastern U.S. markets. The company cited the region’s life-sciences workforce, incentives, access to utilities and transportation infrastructure, and business climate as key factors.
BMS expects the project to create approximately 2,000 construction and other indirect jobs between 2027 and 2030. Initial campus roles are expected to include operations technicians, production specialists, maintenance and engineering professionals, quality-control and quality-assurance staff, and leadership and administrative personnel.
The company already works with a Texas contract manufacturer for commercial and clinical-trial production. In 2025, BMS had 250 clinical trial sites across the state.
