The regulatory world has changed, and it feels like everything changed at once. The Quality Management System Regulation (QMSR) took effect February 2, 2026, aligning U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) medical device quality requirements with ISO 13485 for the first time. The FDA's Computer Software Assurance (CSA) guidance was revised in September 2025 and again in February 2026, replacing the old validation paradigm with a risk-based, least-burdensome model. Revised drafts of EU GMP Chapter 4 and Annex 11, along with the new Annex 22 on artificial intelligence (AI), were published for stakeholder consultation in July 2025, and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) is expected to formally adopt all three in 2026.
Remote audits have been normalized. AI tools, both in your operations and in the FDA's, are changing the very definition of “compliance”. Download this handbook from Master Control for a strategic operating guide that walks you through exactly what has changed, what regulators are inspecting for, and how AI is reshaping both sides of the compliance equation.
