Thermo Fisher Scientific is testing a new concept to screen hundreds of EM grids to optimize sample preparation for Cryo-Electron Microscopy Single Particle Analysis

Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) SPA is gaining ground in the Pharmaceutical industry to solve the structures of macromolecular complexes bound to their ligands of interest. Screening the biochemistry space rapidly to obtain the adequate sample is crucial. This time-consuming step is known to be the major roadblock to perform successfully Cryo-EM structural analysis. To screen samples at a higher rate, Thermo Fisher Scientific tested a new concept where hundreds of EM grids could be loaded at once in a microscope and screened automatically.
