Better Oncology Bioavailability with Amorphous Solid Dosage Forms
Solubility in the GI tract can be a real problem for oral tyrosine kinase inhibitors used to treat cancer, as it is often pH dependent. By formulating the drug as an amorphous solid dispersion, its sensitivity to pH variability can be reduced, while still retaining the convenience of an oral dosage form. A recent whitepaper by Lonza’s Deanna Mudie explains how the strategy can be used to create more effective, patient-friendly drug products.
