COMPANY BACKGROUND
ABITEC was founded in the 1960s as a chemical manufacturer producing specialty and fine chemicals. In 1994, ABITEC was purchased by Associated British Foods (ABF) and became part of the ABF Ingredients group, a series of companies focused on the manufacture of specialized ingredients for various industries, including foods, pharmaceuticals, and nutraceuticals. Since ABITEC’s founding, we continue to improve our processes, expand our product offerings, and optimize our manufacturing to world-class levels.

PRODUCTS, SERVICES, & CAPABILITIES
ABITEC has an expansive portfolio of compendial highly-functional lipids for the Pharmaceutical industry, including Captex® medium-chain tri-glycerides, Capmul® mono- and di-glycerides, Acconon® non-ionic surfactants, and Sterotex® hydrogenated vegetable oils. Captex, Capmul, and Acconon excipients can be used alone or in conjunction, to develop lipid-based formulations that can overcome solubility and permeability issues with BCS Class II-IV active ingredients, in order to improve bioavailability. Additionally, Capmul can be employed to provide for emulsification and transdermal penetration in topical formulations. Sterotex is employed in tablet dry-binding, tablet lubrication, multi-particulate coating, and matrix tablet sustained release. ABITEC’s new INJECTA™ line of functional lipids provides the ideal building blocks for injectable formulations. ABITEC’s pharmaceutical grade lipids conform to compendia standards and are manufactured in accordance with strict c-GMP in ISO-certified facilities.

We are excited to announce the recent acquisition of Larodan AB a manufacturer and international marketer of state-of-the-art, high-purity research-grade lipids. This strategic acquisition will expand ABITEC’s functional lipid product offerings and scientific capabilities to better serve the pharmaceutical, nutritional and industrial market sectors.
