For over 75 years, Alconox has been a leader in detergents, used extensively in the laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, healthcare, electronics, solar, food, nuclear, optics, cannabis and cosmetics industries.
Regarding the anniversary, Elliot M. Lebowitz, Chief Operating Officer remarked, “As a member of this third-generation, family-owned business, I am so proud to be part of this historic anniversary. Alconox’s history starts prior to 1943 when a wetting agent that excelled at cleaning glassware without leaving residues was discovered by Louis Zisman. Elliot’s father, William Lebowitz, owned Standard Scientific Supply, a distribution company focused on serving the laboratory industry. In 1946 Louis and William combined their respective talents by forming Alconox Inc. to manufacture and distribute Alconox® Powdered Precision Cleaner.
Shortly thereafter, Alconox opened an office at 853 Broadway, New York, NY. Over time, more and more dealers signed up to distribute Alconox detergent and the product became widely distributed to laboratories and hospitals. As the company grew, detergent chemistries and formulations were added based on market needs and cleaning requirements. Each innovative detergent was developed for effectiveness in both the complete removal of contaminating residues and free rinsing.
