GAIA and Daiichi Sankyo Europe Sign Exclusive Deal on Digital Therapeutic for Cardiovascular Care

GAIA AG and Daiichi Sankyo Europe have entered an exclusive strategic partnership to commercialize lipodia, a next-generation digital therapeutic for cardiovascular care in Europe, pending regulatory approval. Under the agreement, Daiichi Sankyo Europe receives exclusive rights to lipodia, positioning the product as a new pillar in its cardiovascular portfolio and expanding the company’s activities into digital therapeutics.

The digital therapeutic is designed to support adults living with hypercholesterolemia by targeting long-term behavior change through evidence-based, non-pharmacological interventions. Lipodia integrates behavioral health science with psychological and psychotherapeutic methods, dynamically adapting to individual patient needs via interactive dialogues and tools that help embed healthy routines into daily life. The fully automated solution is accessible on most connected devices, enabling flexible, location-independent use.

The collaboration initially focuses on Germany, with mechanisms to expand to other major European markets. GAIA plans to seek reimbursed access for lipodia through Germany’s DiGA pathway after pivotal phase 3 randomized controlled trial data become available, which would allow prescribing within statutory health insurance. Both companies state that the partnership aims to complement pharmacological treatment and integrate digital therapeutics into routine cardiovascular care.
