UCB is planning a new biologics manufacturing facility in Gwinnett County, Georgia, that will span 460,000 square feet on a 79-acre site within the Rowen development. The facility is intended to serve as a cornerstone of the company’s global biologics network and as its future U.S. hub for Manufacturing and Supply operations.
The Georgia site is designed to expand UCB’s manufacturing capacity in the United States to meet growing demand for its biologic medicines and to support reliable, timely access to treatments. It will complement UCB’s existing global manufacturing network and strengthen relationships with its U.S.-based contract manufacturing organization partners.
The campus will incorporate artificial intelligence, robotics, and smart resource management as part of a digital-first design aimed at improving efficiency, resilience, and sustainability. UCB states that sustainability considerations, including efficient facility design and advanced automation, are being embedded throughout the project to reduce the environmental footprint of the new operation.
The company expects the new campus to create about 330 permanent skilled positions in biologics manufacturing and more than 1,000 construction jobs during the build-out, with an estimated economic impact of around 5 billion dollars for the surrounding area. The project is positioned within a regional life sciences cluster that offers scalable infrastructure, efficient permitting, and access to talent from nearby academic institutions.
