Typically, drug recalls fall into two categories: recalls issued for the cracking or breaking of glass vials and recalls issued for the presence of particulates being detected in the drug solution.

The recalls in 2021 were all due to particulate or other foreign matter being found in solution: brown particles, silicone oil, fibrous particles or flakes, glass particles, and cellulose fiber.
