Filtration is a process in which substances are removed from a fluid, either liquid or gas, using a porous medium for the process. Filtration in pharmaceutical industry allows manufactured to remove unwanted substances from a process and to filter out APIs.
The pharmaceutical industry needs different filtration methods depending on what sort of solution is being used.
For bioprocesses, filtration is usually used to remove unwanted particles such as cell debris from cultures and also to help remove viruses and other bacteria from the same cultures.
