Description
Benazepril hydrochloride is a prodrug whose metabolite inhibits the Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE inhibitor). The decrease in the product of ACE (Angiotensin II) leads to a lower tone of the blood vessels, which is why blood pressure decreases. This makes arterial hypertension and heart failure treatable.
