Description

Amiloride hydrochloride is a highly substituted pyrazinic derivate that is connected to a guanidin group via peptide binding. The molecule is sensitive to light. The substance is used as a potassium-saving diuretic. The effect is caused by inhibiting sodium recovery and potassium secretion. Usually, Amiloride is used in combination with other diuretics, such as Hydrochlorothiazide.
