Description
Moxonidine is an analogue of the hypotensive agent Clonidine, which acts as an agonist of α2-adrenoceptors. It has a reduced Noradrenaline release as well as a hypotensive effect. It is therefore also used to treat essential hypertension. As an agonist on the imidazoline receptor, it is used as an antihypertensive agent for opiate withdrawal relief.
