Rizwan Sharnez, Ph. D.

4Rizwan Sharnez, Ph.D., is Principal Engineer at Amgen, Colorado. Previously he was with Merck & Co. in West Point, Pennsylvania, and BioSeparations Inc. in Tucson, Arizona. Rizwan has 15 years experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, process development and validation. His expertise is in the areas of cleaning, purification, and aseptic processing.
Rizwan is currently working on novel methods for bench and pilot-scale characterization for CIP cycle development and cleaning validation. His responsibilities include process development and tech transfer for new product introductions. Rizwan has a B. Tech., M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology. His publications are on electrophoresis, cell separation, crystallization, cleaning characterization, quality by design, risk management, validation and aseptic processing. Rizwan is on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Validation Technology; he also writes a column for the journal called New Perspectives on Cleaning.
